frequently asked questions
Are there issues you don't treat?
Yes. We specialize only in Adolescents, Young Adults and their families. We see clients for depression, anxiety, self-esteem, motivation, problems with conduct, school and peers, substance/food abuse, anger management and other challenges related to this phase of life - and we get very good results with the areas above because we limit our focus to these specific areas of expertise. We don’t treat current or historical bipolar, schizophrenia, and anger issues that involve current or historical behavior of physical harm to others. We also don’t treat eating disorders that have become a medical concern, such as being dangerously underweight or loss of menstrual cycle. We are very helpful with supportive treatment of eating disorders that are not currently physically dangerous.
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept health insurance. However, we will happily submit electronic claims for service to your health insurance company as an out-of-network provider. Your health insurance company will process your claim and reimburse you directly for any benefits to which you are entitled.
How often will I come to therapy? And for how long?
Compass Counseling offers two different therapy approaches. One is our highly structured 24-week Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program. The other option is custom-tailored counseling integrating a spectrum of approaches matched to your child's unique situation.
When are therapy appointments available?
Appointments are offered Monday through Friday from 2pm to 8pm with some Saturday sessions available upon request. Additional daytime hours also available upon request.
Tele-therapy is also offered via HIPPA complaint, secure video conferencing for times when you prefer to have a session from wherever you need to be!
